The ancient art of Encaustic Painting is enjoying a resurgence in popularity in the last several years. If you are intrigued or have been wanting to learn about this art medium, join in the fun with this Introductory class as we explore the basics of painting with hot wax – what it is and how to layer the encaustic medium to create layers of luminosity. We will learn beginner techniques such as inclusion, texture, intaglio, scraping and make and apply encaustic paint (color). We will complete a small encaustic painting. Most supplies are included in the class fee however students will be asked to bring some general supplies for their own use** Supply list given out at registration. COST: $100 DATE: April 1, 2023 TIME: 10-4 (with lunch break) PLACE: Chuck MacLean Centre 4809 52 ST Camrose, AB SUPPLIES: Most supplies and equiptment are included. I am drawn to the the lost, the forgotten, the torn and yellowed items of the past. I find there is beauty in these forgotten ephemera and I love the story that is created when they are brought together with paste and sealed with wax.

Come create your own story in this Salvaged Memories Encaustic Class Friday night (2 hours) Create your collage using found and handmade papers and ephemera as well as your own personal memorabilia (optional). We will be creating some of the papers we will use in our collage and Donna will then guide you in how to create your collage. (we will let the collage dry overnight before adding the encaustic layer) (NOTE – it isn’t necessary to provide 3your own documents etc as Donna will also be providing vintage papers in your provided collage packs)

Saturday 10-3:30 (includes lunch break) Donna will guide you in adding layers of beeswax (encaustic medium) as well as more collage layers, images and other compatible media into your collage. COST: $110 TIME: Friday night - 6:30-8:30 Saturday - 10-3:30 (includes lunch break) DATE: April 28/29 PLACE: Chuck MacLean Centre, 4809 52 ST Camrose SUPPLIES: Most supplies and equiptment are included. Students will be sent a short supply list at time of registration for items they should bring. If you have any questions, please email me at

I hope to see you in class!
